Your Perfect Winter Wedding
Winter can be an enchanting time of year for a wedding, and for me personally, it is the season I love most at the venue.
Here at the House, we like to enhance the features of the suite throughout the winter months by adding a few minimalist decorative touches. No matter what time of the year, no room shines brighter than the Music Room, offering a crisp bright canvas for photographs whatever the weather. By contrast the Main Hall and Dining Room offer a warm romantic mood created by dark wood and candlelit fireplaces, providing a lovely winter feel. The interiors of the House are beautifully complemented by the frosted gardens, helping to create a wonderful atmosphere for your day.
On the occasion that we are lucky enough to get a fresh snowfall, the House could not look prettier. We were incredibly lucky last winter to have beautiful photographs returned from our couples in the snow with pictures taken of the House itself and throughout the park.
Enhancing Touches
At this time of year, we reach my favourite season… candle season (finally!). If you like this idea as much as I do, we have plenty of available tea lights and holders to decorate your meal tables, tall church candles for our grand window ledges and in our fireplace’s in each room to create a beautiful focal ambience for your guests. We also provide elavilnews.com for tables during your evening reception in the café bar, and have our fairy lights are a permanent fixture here too which look especially gorgeous as it gets darker outside! Our cloakroom will be staffed and open for your guest’s arrival too, ready to store all of those extra layers until the end of the evening.
During December the venue also has the addition of some decorative Christmas touches within the Mackintosh Suite. We decorate with a real Fraser Fir tree in each room of the suite every year, tastefully decorated and displayed within the Main hall stairwell and at the left of the piano in our Music room. Along with smelling fantastically festive these also create a lovely backdrop for your photographs as the decorations tie in beautifully with our surroundings.
Personal Touches
Although we can provide simple touches to elevate your day, you are also more than welcome to enhance the standard set-up with your own decorations and with your instruction we can set these out for you. From guest books, welcome signs and stationery to sweetie tables and additional table centres - please just ask if you have any ideas and I can certainly help. Depending on your tastes you may also want to get other suppliers involved to make an impression on your day, our recommended suppliers are recommended for a reason and really are some of the best in the business – all details can be found in our suppliers guide!
There are also things that we can suggest to enhance our set wedding packages which may create more of a warm winter feel throughout the day. Classic festive items such as mulled wine could be added in during your drinks reception either as an alternative to sparkling wine or alongside it; this would be served warm which is perfect with our delicious canapés. We also have a lovely list of winter cocktails which can be served in our drinks Kilners, each Kilner can cater for up to 30 guests which means you provide a few different alcoholic or non-alcoholic cocktails and your guests can help themselves throughout the drinks reception.
During your meal, we would also be delighted to offer options for a winter menu if you hoped to provide your guests with something a little bit more bespoke to the season. How about a traditional Christmas Dinner? Our team in the kitchen would be delighted to get the turkey and cranberry sauce at the ready! Intermediate courses are also a lovely touch as we head into the winter months, considering haggis, neeps and tatties or a charming winter soup or broth which can be served between your starter and main course. We could also provide our locally sourced cheese at the end of your meal or as a display during your evening reception - all of these additional touches provide you with a day of food and drinks that you will definitely not forget in a hurry.
Whether you love the idea of a snow-laden park backdrop, a twinkly Christmas tree for or just a great price for an “off-peak” month, a romantic winter wedding could definitely be worth considering!
