There are a number of things that come up time and again for couples who are setting out on their wedding journey. Hannah thought it would be useful to share some frequently asked questions, to help you decide if House for an Art Lover will be the best venue for your wedding.

1. What rooms can we use during our day?

When you host your wedding with us you have exclusive use of the Mackintosh Suite, including the Music Room, Main Hall, Dining Room and Oval Room. The main rooms will be arranged depending on your day time numbers (SEE ROOM LAYOUT) and guests will flow between them with minimal turnaround time. The Oval Room is your private space there for you to use all day, ideal for storing gifts and personal items! After the meal guests will move to the ground floor to be joined by any additional guests for the evening reception. The reception furniture and dance floor will be set while you are enjoying your meal so everything is ready exactly on time for your evening guests arriving.

2. What package is best for me?

We offer a variety of packages at the venue to suit all styles and budgets. Our 3 brochure options include standard venue hire and the house drinks package and then the overall price per person varies depending on your preferred menu and day/date. (SEE BROCHURE). If however you are have a good idea of your numbers then one our seasonal all-inclusive packages might suit better for your budget. The all-inclusive option is perfect for couples who have a price to stick to and can be flexible with the time of year. Have a look at the full details for our Midweek and Weekend Wedding Offers which have options for Winter and Summer dates!  (SEE PACKAGE OFFERS)

3. Is there any flexibility between menu options in the brochure packages?

Of course, if for example you prefer a starter from the Honeyman Package but a Main course and dessert from Gesso then I can work out a bespoke cost per person based on your selections. There are also options to add in canapés and upgrade your drinks to make more of your day (SEE BROCHURE). Our All-inclusive packages are based on the Honeyman menu and your numbers can be adjusted upwards if you have additional guests.

4. Can we have a choice of dishes in our menu?

You can, but there are some requirements. It’s possible to select 2 starter, 2 main course and 2 dessert options for your guests, however we do need this to be pre-ordered in advance and a small per person supplement would apply. How this works is you would make your selections and then include a menu card for each guest with your invite, they would then RSVP with their choices for each guest. Once you have this you can collate all the details on to your table plan so we will know exactly who is sitting where and what they will be eating – I will also send over a spreadsheet to help keep this simple.

5. Are there any specific dos and don'ts?

The good news is that you can take as many photos as you like while in The Mackintosh Suite, as well as making use of the Mackintosh tables and chairs for elements of your day. You can also use all of the grounds around the house for photographs, including the beautiful Doocot building at the Studio Pavilion. You do however require a permit from Glasgow City Council to use the Victorian Walled Garden for photos, I can send across the application form for this – fees are payable directly to GCC. The grand piano in the Music Room is tuned and available for your pianist to play should you wish. There are however a few don’ts. No pets indoors unfortunately, your fur baby can come along and have some pictures in the garden though. All confetti must be biodegradable and can be used outside only, no foil please as it leaves a big mess for the next wedding. Lastly no irn-bru allowed, it does not mix well with our white carpets and could leave you with a big cleaning bill!

6. Does the venue have car parking facilities?

The car park here has space for around 100 cars and is complimentary for guests to use. It is possible to leave cars overnight however please bear in mind that we are located in a public park and cannot accept any responsibility for vehicles.

7. Can guests stay overnight at the house?

Unfortunately we don’t have any bedrooms at the venue but I can give you details of some hotels we would recommend, some of which offer special rates for our guests!

Hopefully these will help as you take the initial steps in planning your big day, feel free to pop me a line, I’ll be happy to chat through any queries you may have or meet you in the venue to show you the rooms!  Contact us today
