Cosmology of III: GI 2014

Suzanne Déry is a French Canadian artist based in Glasgow who works in installation, sculpture, printmaking and video. Déry draws upon the mythical through symbolism and sculpture to create work that acts as a reminder of our humble existence, asking us to suspend our disbelief to ask deeper questions about how much we know and are sure of in the world around us.

Programmed as part of Glasgow International 2014, her Cosmology of III project includes a number of site specific sculptures and installations that have been developed from an immersive, research & production residency at House for an Art Lover’s new art studio complex in Bellahouston Park.

Each piece is suggestive of a transcendental becoming - evidencing production and the representation of an intention with an outcome that stays earnest to human limitation and our aspiration for esprit de corps. The order, placement and punctuation between imagery and objects is integral -representing a visual conversation between the space, a threefold connection to the cosmos, symbolism and time.

Suzanne hosted a number of events and workshops for adults and children - including solar viewings and star gazing with invited guest John Pressly, Curator: Coats Observatory during the GI festival in April 2014.
