Shelagh Campbell: Going Solo at Sixty Nine

Exhibition Open Monday 13th February - Monday 3rd April 2017, 10am-5pm daily
Preview Thursday 16th February 2017, 6-8pm

'After studying at The Glasgow School of Art in the sixties, my husband, children and I set off in an old VW Beetle to live and work in Ullapool, Wester Ross. Although I didn’t have much time to paint, the seeds must have been sown then, as I still paint Hebridean storms, secret pools (where I am confident that Faeries and Kelpies reside) and jeweled beaches with all the changing of seasons.

t wait for inspiration. It normally comes with the first brush strokes, if I am lucky.

t believe how lucky I am to walk to them daily and see them covered in snow or clothed in poppies and gorse.

I also know how lucky I was to have been mentored by James Robertson about 10 years ago. It was he who got me painting again and having works accepted at the RGI, RSW and the PAI.

And here I am at the age of 69 with my first solo exhibition as part of the award from the House for an Art Lover last year at the 2016 Paisley Art Institute exhibition.

I hope you enjoy my work.'
