The Main Hall
Visitors to the Mackintosh Rooms enter through the vestibule into the grand elevated space of the Main Hall. The Hall is the central feature of the first floor from which the other main rooms can be accessed. As with the other interiors, Mackintosh has carefully considered the competition specification that the suite should be used for grand entertaining.
Sliding doors which lead to the Dining Room can be closed to create two distinct areas or opened up to create one large space, making the Main Hall an excellent reception area.
Delicate craftwork details can be picked out between the dark, simple vertical lines of the wooden panelling including beaten metal sections and softly coloured stained glass. Three large, elongated windows light the Main Hall along with beautiful cluster light features.
