We are incredibly lucky here at the House to have such fun and creative Wedding couples using our venue. From initial show rounds to our final walk through together I have had some amazing questions and ideas, many of which have come to life this year with the help of talented suppliers. Within this blog I thought it would be exciting to list just a few of the trends that have presented themselves this year and our reactions to them.

ALPACAS
We were joined by these charismatic creatures for a Wedding in May and they were brought & looked after by Velvet Hall Alpacas. Our Bride organised this as a surprise for her Groom and guests, so it was fantastic to see everyone’s surprised reaction as they made their way outside for a group photograph. Throughout a two-hour drinks reception, the couple had the opportunity to walk with them, take photographs and even feed them with their owners. Guests were also welcome to interact and get to know them. These four friends were a delight to have and a great addition to the wedding venue for the day, they certainly put a smile on everyone’s faces.
DOGGOS
So many couples have a beloved furry family friend that they would like in their wedding photographs. Although we don’t allow dogs within the wedding venue, they are welcome to join for some snaps and a wander round the park. Top tip: bowties are a great addition!
This may flag up some concerns like “All of my family are attending; how can my dog get to the venue?”
There are some fantastic companies such as
Woof Woof Weddings who will be able to transport your dog to the venue, make sure they are looked after and that they are well walked before dropping them back off home for you both. Giving you peace of mind that they are incapable hands while you enjoy your day.
ALL THINGS CAKE!
Throughout your Wedding day at the venue our team in the Kitchen can create beautiful dishes using fresh local ingredients. Within our wedding packages we have the options to add canapes and evening buffet to your 3 course meal. If however, you are like me and would look for something sweet to compliment the rest of the menu, the trend for cake tables and donut walls is still as popular as ever. These can offer the ideal compromise in addition to your other element, plus they also make the rooms smell divine! I’ve listed some supplier’s we’ve had at house to give you an idea of the possibilities.
QUIRKY SET-UPS!
I have noticed an increase in the number of couples who want to add their own quirky décor and unique creative ideas within their wedding venue. We are incredibly lucky to have such motivated couples that spend the time looking at our rooms with fresh eyes to see what they can do that is different.
Firstly, we have an alternative take on our traditional ceremony idea. This set-up looked gorgeous in our Music Room as it shortened the aisle and allowed guests to watch our Bride & Groom get married in front of the wall of windows. Chiavari chairs like this can be sourced from the lovely people at
Pretty Settings with seat pads coordinated to match your scheme perfectly. For the wedding meal we then set-up a long top table which was placed in the middle of our Main Hall and Dining Room doors, it looked fantastic! This allowed the top table party to be amongst the other tables and allowing a nice inclusive feel during the meal.
We also worked alongside
Lemonbox Studios for the first time in April. They are a delight to deal with, planning and designing the rooms based on the suggestions provided by our Bride Jeanne. For this particular set-up they used all of their own linen, chairs and even beautiful stencil design features, so we cannot take much of the credit but from the photograph I hope you will agree that it was a beautiful day and a unique wedding set-up not to be forgotten.
FINISHING TOUCHES
There are some things that will probably never go out of fashion, such as your favours and centre pieces and we have seen some lovely twists on these recently. There are however some great additions to the standard, we have seen alternative guest books such as polaroid’s, bespoke canvas and wooden hearts along with photo tables which are all still really on trend at the moment. In recent months we have had some different wedding styling ideas that worked beautifully within the suite.
