Heritage Week and Doors Open Days 

Celebrate Glasgow's rich architectural history during this special week of activities at venues across the city from 19-20 September 2009.

House for an Art Lover hosts a seminar entitled '70 Years On', on Tuesday 16 September from 9am - 12.30pm, celebrating the anniversary of the British Empire Exhibition of 1938 in Bellahouston Park.  Speakers on the day include Neil Baxter, Ian Johnston, David J Leslie and Professor Andy MacMillan.  They will explore the architectural roots of Glasgow's greatest exhibition and its ending legacy.  Tickets are £10 and can be booked directly with the House on 0141 353 4770 or by email to info@houseforanartlover.co.uk

The House will also be offering FREE admission on Saturday 20th from 10am - 1pm and Sunday 10am - 12pm.

The tea room entrepreneur, Catherine Cranston, was one of Mackintosh’s most important patrons. This lecture explores Mackintosh’s designs for her business properties and her home, Hous’hill.

The dismantled interiors from Miss Cranston’s Ingram Street Tea Rooms are in the care of Culture and Sport Glasgow. This talk outlines the detailed research and conservation work undertaken to date and looks at options for their future presentation.
