Green Tourism Silver Award

House for an Art Lover has received a silver award in the Green Tourism Business Scheme.  The GBTS was established by VisitScotland in 1998 and is open to all accommodation providers, visitor attractions and holiday parks.

By following environmentally friendly methods, businesses can save costs, improve efficiency and take advantage of a growing market for environmentally conscious visitors and of course, contribute to sustainable tourism in Scotland.

The assessors not only looked at how we reduced environmental impact but also at how we promote good practice to staff, visitors and suppliers.

It can be surprising the savings you can make by doing what appears to be very simple things - at House for an Art Lover we now ensure that we switch off all lights when leaving an empty room; we not only switch off our computers at night but also the monitors. We have reduced dramatically the amount of paper waste and now reuse envelopes or the back of paper for internal use.

Being environmentally aware is everyone's responsibililty and we hope that as a visitor to House for an Art Lover you will help us to continue to be a 'Green' Business.
