19 MAY - 29 JUNE : NICK WOBER

“The Changing Face of Glasgow….and Beyond”
Nick Wober is a local photographer who has lived in Glasgow all his life. After a long business career, retirement afforded him the time and opportunity to pursue more seriously his passion for photography. This included a four year full-time course at the Glasgow Metropolitan College from which he successfully graduated in 2007. This was followed by an additional Personal
Development Award in 2008.
From his early childhood he has witnessed the seismic changes Glasgow has undergone in its transition from an environment of shipbuilding and heavy engineering to a cosmopolitan and attractive European city. The history is there to be seen – from the demise of the shipyards to the Glasgow Harbour Development, the contrast in design of the old and new bridges that span the Clyde, traditional and modern architecture, literally side by side, and so much more. Nick’s other love is the paddle steamer Waverley, the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer. He has produced the “ The Official Waverley Calendar” since 2006 and the 2010 edition is now available.
